We recognise the importance of Renewable Energy and the two main drivers behind it: climate change and energy security. Targets have been set to reduce CO2 emissions and to increase the generation and use of energy from renewable sources.
These targets provide opportunities for landowners, farmers and developers that will not only help the environment, but will also create many new and profitable business ventures.
We have a dedicated team with significant experience and expertise in the following fields :
- Solar PV - PV offers the highest level of Feed-in Tariff (FiT) out of all the forms of renewable energy. This will appeal to landowners who wish to invest their own money in PV schemes in order to secure a safe return over the next 25 years as well as landowners who are looking to rent sites in return for a rental income or free electricity.
Where clients are looking to invest in their own PV scheme we are able to help them by:
- Discussing the suitability of their site
- Putting the scheme out to tender
- Analysing quotes
- Obtaining finance and producing cashflows
- Managing risk
- Submitting planning applications
- Maximising the retail price of their surplus electricity
Where clients don’t have the appetite to invest themselves but are able to host a site we are able to promote it for them to developers. Benefits to the site provider include:
- A rent of up to £4,000 pa RPI linked for 25 years.
- Free or reduced price electricity for 25 years.
- A free barn in return for permitting solar panels on top.
Do feel free to contact our renewable energy team if you wish to discuss any of these possibilities in more detail.
- Small wind turbines - Costing from less than £60,000 and at just 18m tall these small-scale wind turbines offer an affordable green energy investment for farmers.
- Medium wind turbines (investment and rental) - Those farmers who have sufficient funds may want to consider investing in a more lucrative medium-scale wind turbine. These wind turbines are less than 50m in height and generate returns in excess of 20%. Farmers and landowners who do not wish to commit to the level of investment required with the turbines may wish to consider hosting them on their land in order to generate a rental return.
- Large wind farms - Landowners who believe they have a suitable site to host a wind farm can benefit from a significant rental income. Landowners who wish to promote their sites or who have been approached by developers should take professional advice to ensure they derive the greatest benefits from the venture and protect their position. We specialise in collaboration and option agreements.
- Anaerobic digestion - Landowners and farmers can either invest in their own AD plants, feeding it on crops grown on farm together with animal waste or import waste from off farm sources. Those who are reluctant to undertake the whole project in isolation can do so in conjunction with development partners who are able to bring both finance and expertise to the table.
